A foundation can give you a flawless complexion for special occasions. But there is also a particular method for its application. Not all shades and types of foundations are right for every skin tone.
A right foundation applied in the right manner can give you a beautiful complexion which looks natural; otherwise it can also look like an artificial mask. So let’s find out which one is best suited for your particular skin type and how to apply it.
Selection of foundation type
It is important to choose the right shade before applying the one best for you. You should choose the shade closest to your complexion. It will give you a very natural look. Foundations are available in various different forms. You can choose anyone depending on the occasion and your skin type.
You can go for a foundation gel which is light and natural if you have blemish-free normal skin. For dry skin, prefer foundation creams as they are oil based which will keep your skin moisturized.
For oily skin, choose a foundation stick because it dries your skin when applied. Liquid foundation is suitable for all skin types. They give a light sheen to your face but they are also too light to hide any blemishes and scars.
Avoid using foundations to hide dark circles under the eye. To hide redness, pimples or dark circles, use a concealer of the same shade of your foundation, if you have any.
Application
Clean your face gently with a mild cleanser. Rub an ice cube all over your face and neck if you want your foundation to last for long. Dip a cotton ball in the foundation bottle and dot it on the forehead, cheeks, nose and chin. You can also use a brush or simply fingertips to spread and smoothen it all over.
To use a foundation stick, dot it directly on the face and spread it with a few drops of water so that it melts into the skin evenly. Blend properly, especially around areas like the nose, jaw-line and the mouth. Your base for further make up is now ready.
